Weekly Update

Hello Families,  We have been enjoying the exciting opportunity to learn rugby this week with Breanne from Rugby Alberta. We learned that scoring a point in rugby is called a tri, and each tri is worth 5 points. We have been playing various games to practice passing sideways and backwards to move the ball around the field.  We have also been thinking and talking a lot about rhyme, rhythm, flow and fluency when creating and reciting poetry. We have been learning about limericks, which follow patterns for both syllables and rhymes. Ask your child about the rules of limericks to see what they can remember. We will have an opportunity to read these aloud within the classroom as well! Within science and math we have been busy looking at our designs for the animal habitats (grade 3) and gardens (grade 4) we are creating to meet the needs of our species. Students have been given specific criteria to revise their designs and include various perimeters and areas of the polygons in their spaces.
