Volunteers Needed - Book Fair

  Volunteers Needed for Book Fair!!     We are pleased to be offering our second book fair this year. We are looking for parent volunteers who would be able to help run the fair during the dates and timeslots below.       If you are able to volunteer during any of the time slots below, we would greatly appreciate it! Please email Ms. Kassam ( shkassam@cbe.ab.ca)   with the time and day you are available to help. If you are able to volunteer but for a shorter time slot, please email Ms. Kassam with your preferred time.      In order to volunteer, you will need your volunteer clearance completed and up to date.        Thursday, March 9 th     1.      3:30pm – 5:30pm   2.      5:30pm – 7:30pm      Friday, March 10 th        1.      8:00am – 10:00am   2.        10:00am – 12:00pm       * All volunteers are asked to arrive a couple of minutes early to learn the systems and procedures. *

Next Year Student Count

  Next Year Student Count   In order for  us to make the most   accurate  predictions possible for next year we have sent out a link for families to confirm if they will be attending LBS or another school next year. If families inform you of their plans or potential plans to move elsewhere, please let Jen & K im know.  Please also add   the following message to your blogs.   It is that time of year   again ,   when  we begin planning for our upcoming school year.   In order   for  us   to  make the most   accurate  and informed   plans  possible, please take a moment to fill out the following form   indicating  your plans for your child(ren) for the 2023/2024 school year . Weekly Update - Feb 21 - 24

 Hello Families, It was an awesome week with the BE BRAVE Hitmen Hockey Game being a major highlight! It was a really fund and unique experience for our class to be able to go to the Saddledome together. Throughout the game they had lots of guest speakers talking about the importance of being an ally and standing up against bullying. Additionally, the concourse had lots of giveaways and freebies like photo booths, stickers, mascots, etc.  Before the game, we talked about what it means to debate a topic, and use convincing arguments to persuade your audience. We had a couple of mini debates in class to practice this thinking style. Our two questions were: 1. Should we always have 5 day weekends? I do not think we should have 5 day weekends because we would not be able to learn as much. I think we should have 5 day weekends so we have more time to spend on our hobbies.  2. Should boo-ing be allowed in professional sports?  I think boo-ing should not be allowed in professional games becau

  Save The Date!   Dear families,   Mark your calendars! The fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school again during Student Led Conferences! To adapt to our changing needs, Scholastic has developed a   Hybrid Book Fair (in-school with a virtual link)   to provide an opportunity for our students and families to experience the joy of reading together.     So, save the date! Our   Scholastic Virtual Book Fair   will take place on:    Monday, March 6 th till Monday, March 13 th      When it’s time to shop, you can choose to visit the virtual link and purchase online or in person during Student-Led Conferences.   More information to come!         Happy reading!    

LBS Fundraiser - Purdy's Chocolate

  Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate....   LBS Improvement Society is offering Purdy’s Chocolate for our next fundraiser, just in time for   the Easter ! Chocolates can be   orders  by following the link   below, and  will be ready for   pick up on  April 6th between 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm at the front door at Lake Bonavista School. The school is closed for the long weekend and any chocolates forgotten will be left in the school until classes resume. Weekly Update - Feb 6-10

Hello Families, We got to see the Vampire Crab, he was right by the front of the glass and he was eating - W.D We are voting on our vampire crabs name - W.D   We are studying Peru, Ukraine & Tunisia by learning about the countries, researching in small groups and deciding how we are going to present our information to the class - G.K, R.R. M.P & H.C    We did MART - P.H  Continuing our work on Fractions, grade 3 and grade 4 students were given the choice to complete mild, medium and spicy art depending on how many colours their used on their art.    Artist in Residence  We had our last session with Ms.Sharon on Thursday. Each day students built on their designed of their lanterns, making connections to the country or province they were representing. In the coming weeks we will be working with the other four grade 3/4 classes, creating a showcase of all the work we have created.        We made cards with our buddies for a seniors home - S.B    We are finishing up our seed storie

 Hello Families, Room 3 worked together to write the blog this week.  Artist In Residence  Today, was our first Artist in Residence day! We started by learning about water colours. We then painted our water colour paper with water. The next step was adding paint on top. We watched it BLEED, the whole class was BLEEDING! - M.P & W.D We have been learning about Fractions! We have played many math games to help us understand Fractions better. - I.G  Links to these games have been added to our Google Classroom under Math Games.  We have been writing and revising our stories to turn them into our good copies. These stories will come to life on a one pager! We are excited to share them with you soon! - S.B & I.M Alongside our writing we have been working on our beginning, middle and end illustrations. - P.H We have been preparing for Artist in Residence throughout the week, we each created a learning/reflection page to track our learning. - I.G & G.K February is a busy month, so
